Cholecystopathy with Typhoid Fever

Abstract
Acute and chronic cholecystitis and G.B. empyema during the course of the typhoid fever have
been identified with rare frequencies, but with pyelonephritis this has played an important role in
the propagation of the disease and in most cases the carrier state of the typhoid fever can be discont
inued only by the resection of the diseased gallbladder.
We have experienced 3 cases of the cholecystopathy developed during the course of the typhoid
fever among 171 cases of cholecystectomy during the period between June 1st, 1968 and August 31st,
1971 in the Department of Surgery, Sacred Heart Hospital and we are presenting the cases with some
clinical review.
